The Ijaw Diaspora Council (IDC), has extended its heartfelt and warmest birthday wishes to the illustrious Ijaw Nation Leader, Pa. Dr. Senator Chief Edwin Clark, on his extraordinary 97th birthday.
The President of the Ijaw Diaspora Council & Amadabo of Ijaw Diaspora, Professor (Amb.) Mondy Selle Gold who felicitated Pa. (Dr.) Chief Clark on behalf of the Ijaw Diaspora, said his enduring legacy as a beacon of wisdom and an unyielding advocate for justice and equity has been a beacon of hope and inspiration to them all.
“Over the years, you have tirelessly championed the restructuring of our beloved country and the establishment of true federalism, ensuring that all federating units can flourish at their own pace”, he said. “Your vision and advocacy have cast a light on the undeniable foundational problems that have long hindered Nigeria’s peace and progress”.
He further noted that, “Your steadfast commitment to this cause underscores the urgent need for restructuring, a path supported by major organizations including the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO USA), Collaborative Council of Nigerians Abroad, Global Nigerian Diaspora Forum, African Diaspora for Good Governance, and the Ijaw Diaspora. We share your vision of a future where the component units control their resources, advance at their own pace, and where no one is marginalized by the center—a future that embodies a truly federal Nigeria”.
In honor of Chief Clark’s lifelong contributions and unwavering dedication, Ijaw Diaspora called on the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, to prioritize the implementation of existing reports on restructuring as a birthday gift to Pa. Chief (Dr.) Senator Clark, adding that such a gesture would not only honor his invaluable service to the nation but also set Nigeria on a path to genuine unity and progress.
