ABUJA: The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has charged personnel of the Corps to be more dutiful and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.
The NSCDC boss who gave this charge on Thursday in Abuja during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted senior officers of the Corps, stated that the promotion of the personnel were strictly on merit.
“This promotion is on merit. Any one found culpable after the promotion will be demoted”, he noted.
He said the officers being promoted have worked assiduously to deserve the promotion.
“Promotion to the rank of commandant is key and sensitive. One must demonstrate the highest level of loyalty and dedication. You should also mentor young ones under you. Any leader who does not mentor does not deserve promotion”, he said.
While calling on officers to ensure professionalism in their conduct during the 2023 general election, Dr. Audi said the eye of the world is on Nigeria, hence the need for every deployed officer to be on guard and respect the rule of law and human rights.
Speaking to newsmen, the Director of Public Relations of NSCDC National Headquarters, Olusola Odumosu, who was also decorated as a Commandant of the Corps, while expressing excitement to the new position, promised to be more dedicated to service in the line of his duty.
“Today is an exciting day for me. I’m excited, the promotion has come. Some people told me it is well deserved, I don’t know if I’m hardworking but some told me so. But be that as it may, I just want to thank the Commandant General, my amiable Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who made this possible. I want to thank the other management staff of NSCDC who have been there through thick and thin.
“Well, to whom much is given, much is expected. I have always been very dutiful and hardworking and I think this will only spur me for more hard work and for more dedication to service and loyalty to my commandant general and the entire NSCDC”, he said.
“Whatever capacity I find myself in, I’m going to put in my best. I’m going to do my best to lift the name of the Corps just like we have been doing to sustain it, we keep the flag flying and take the Corps higher to the next level”, he added.
Thursday’s decoration ceremony of newly promoted senior officers of the Corps had 45 officers elevated to the position of Commandants while 8 officers were promoted to Assistant Commandant General.
