The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele has again pushed for reciprocity in flight frequencies to Nigerian airlines under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA).
Emefiele made this known during a second round of meeting with key aviation industry stakeholders, convened in Abuja on Monday by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila.
He pointed out that the Central Bank of Nigeria has always accorded priority foreign exchange allocation to the foreign airlines operating in Nigeria, and insisted that repatriations of funds must be done orderly.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) representative who spoke for all the foreign airlines, except Emirates Airlines, promised to communicate the decisions taken at the meeting formally to the airlines and report back to the leadership of the House within the shortest time possible.
