As Ekiti decides today, June 18, 2022 on who becomes the next Governor, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo has lauded the large turnout of voters.
The Minister who spoke to Journalists shortly after casting his vote at Balogun polling unit in Iyin-Ekiti, Irepodun/ Ifelodun Local Government Area, said the turnout of voters showed the level of awareness created on the need for the people to exercise their franchise.
According to him, “So far, there’s a large turnout of voters which shows obviously that there’s large awareness of the whole exercise”.
While speaking on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS, he said “The BVAS machine has been good in many instances but there have been few problems here and there. Sometimes it’s not capturing the voter’s card but they advised that people should still wait while they find solutions so they can cast their votes”.
The Minister also commended security agents, INEC officials and adhoc staff for exhibiting professionalism in the discharge of their duty.
“In terms of security, it has been good. There is a large turnout of security agencies. The Police are here in large numbers.
“All in all, the electorates here have been very disciplined and so far, there have been no incidents of violence. It’s a very good atmosphere”, he said.
