Ebonyi state has recorded one death from Coronavirus disease.

This, was announced by governor David Umahi, in a state broadcast to the people of Ebonyi state, through the state radio, Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation(EBBC), on Thursday morning.

The governor who directed that all the courts in Ebonyi state be shut down for ten days, starting from June,19, 2020, however, urged Ebonyians not to panic as the state government was on top of the situation.

In his words, “It is unfortunate that we have lost one person due to this COVID-19 pandemic. We have recorded one death, and it makes me so sad. But I want to thank medical personnel  who are doing everything possible day and night.

“The unity square treatment centre is parked out. The virology treatment centre is parked out. Fortunately, we have moved ahead to fully renovate Elinwobvu General Hospital in Abakaliki local government area, and we have adapted it for COVID-19 treatment.

“It is fully equipped with Ultrasound mobile x-ray, and all the NCDC protocol materials.

“I am directing in line with the law on COVID-19, that all the courts in Ebonyi state from this morning—the Magistrate courts, the state High court, and the Customary court should shut down, for the next ten days.

“And I advise all the judiciary officers and their family members, to please immediately undergo COVID-19 test”, he said.

Governor Umahi, earlier in the broadcast, regretted that the state had entered into community infection which, he said, was tightening on the state because of massive testing being conducted.
