As Nigeria counts down to her 59th Independence Day Celebration, the General Overseer, All Christians Fellowship Mission, Rev (Dr.) William Okoye, has stressed on the need for righteousness and fear of God, in order to see a turn around in the nation’s fortune.
This is just as he recommended, that the Church refocusses the thrust of preaching and teaching back to sound biblical values and principles.
The Reverend who stated these on Sunday while speaking on the message, “Righteousness Exalts a Nation”, emphasized that it is godly values such as integrity, love and honesty that builds a nation.
He further stated that the Church is expected to play a prominent role in Nigeria’s rebirth, reformation and reconstruction through a redefinition of the nation’s morality, code of conduct and discipline.
He however noted that Nigeria, though richly endowed by God was crippled from the beginning by deception, falsehood, greed and selfishness.
According to him, “We don’t have National leaders. Most of our leaders are ethnic champions and religious bigots. One of our greatest undoing as a people is our distorted sense of value.
“We must learn to put the values of the mind and spirit before all else. Any individual or nation that places more emphasis on materialism is toying with disaster”, he said.
Speaking further, he said that part of the church’s strategy should be to encourage a balanced and holistic approach to preaching, teaching and interpretation of the word of God.
“To Encourage all Christian denominations to return to sound biblical disciplining of their members. This invariably will lead Christians to be examples of what we preach”, he remarked.
On the way forward, he called for; Restructuring of the nation; Promotion of values that builds nations, and Re-orientation of Nigerians.
