The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) has reacted to the fire incident at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri.
The fire incident which was said to have happened at about 2:00 PM on Monday, affected some part of the terminal building.
In a statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs Henrietta Yakubu (Mrs.), there were no casualties and preliminary investigations into the cause of the incident has commenced.
FAAN in the statement which was made available on its Twitter handle @FAAN_Official wrote, “FAAN wishes to inform passengers and the general public that there was a fire incident that affected some parts of the terminal building of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri at about 1400hours today.
“The fire was however curtailed swiftly by officers of the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of FAAN.
“There was no casualty and normal operations has since commenced at the airport. The Authority has commenced preliminary investigations into the cause of the incident”, the statement ended.
