ABAKALIKI: The All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate for the Ezza North West state constituency, in Ebonyi state, Mr.Innocent Nomeh, has few hours to the supplementary elections slated for Saturday March 2019, withdrawn from the contest.

Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, Mr Nomeh, said, his withdrawal came after considering some salient issues confronting the APC as a Party which led to its massive defeat in the presidential and gubernatorial elections in the state.

According to him, those issues were the unserious disposition of the APC in the state towards the elections which made it to lose completely to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He noted that the APC showed lack of seriousness during the electioneering campaigns as its gubernatorial candidate, Senator Sonni Ogbuorji even lost in his polling booth to the PDP.

“The APC was never serious in the election and ultimately its candidates became vulnerable and politically incapacitated to win any elections.
Nomeh, said that after consulting his family and political associates, he decided to withdraw his membership of the APC, and his candidature to join PDP, stressing that he took the decision without any coercion.

“I took this decision without any coercion and I urge my supporters to take it with great courage”.
He noted that he would henceforth support the administration of Governor David Umahi and urged his supporters to join him in that direction.

When The Sight News contacted the state APC Chairman, Mr Eze Nwachukwu, he said that the party only recognised Mr Emeka Nnoko and not Nomeh, as its house of Assembly candidate.

“We have not received any court order declaring Nomeh as our candidate”, he said.

In a similar vein, the APC House of Assembly candidate for Izzi East State Constituency,Mr Elom Kenneth Chinedu also decamped from APC to Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

He said his decision was borne out of his desire to support governor David Umahi, who was also re-elected for the second time,”to continue the good works he is doing in the state”.

”The decision is entirely mine, made out of my own volition without any coercion, to join hands and congratulate the governor and the governor-elect, Engr.David Umahi, to move Ebonyi state to greater height”.

He blamed the failure of the Party, the All Progressive Congress(APC),in Ebonyi state on intra-party crises which could not be resolved up to the time of electioneering campaigns and elections.
