ABAKALIKI: The PDP South East zone has put all machineries in motion for the commencement of its zonal rally, scheduled to take place on Tuesday next week tentatively.
The PDP National zonal chairman, chief Austin Umahi,disclosed this to newsmen in Enugu after the zonal executive meeting held at the Party’s office.
Umahi,who described the forthcoming PDP zonal rally as ”mother of all rallies”,said the zone will teach the country,how to hold rallies as it would be a rally to behold.
On why the big name, such as senator Ike Ekweremadu,the Deputy senate president,was not in the meeting, Umahi,said there was wide consultation before the meeting.
According to him, the Deputy Senate president would have been present but,was presiding over their meeting at National Assembly,Abuja.
“No big name was missing in the meeting. There was wide consultation,the Deputy senate president would have been here,but he is the one presiding over their meeting at National Assembly.
“I was one-on-one with him before we held this meeting. Before we hold any meeting,as the zonal chairman,I will reach out to those concerned. It is all about consultation. It is all about inclusiveness. I consulted all the governors,consulted all the National Assembly members”, he said.
Umahi,who stated that he was encouraged on the attendance,even though the meeting was an emergency one,disclosed that they discussed extensively on the progress of PDP in the South east.
Earlier,in his introductory remark,Chief Austin Umahi, had urged the PDP members to unite and come together for the interest of the Party.
He also urged the zone to fully support the candidature of Mr Peter Obi,the PDP vice presidential candidate.
”I want to urge every one,no matter how you have been offended ,let us come together as one big family. Nothing we will come out to do in South East together,that we will not achieve. In the rally we have to work out assiduously so that we come out better.
”I urge the South East to fully support the PDP vice presidential candidate,Mr Peter Obi,and Atiku,the presidential flag bearer”, he ended.
