Recognizing the high level of quackery in the Advertising Industry in Nigeria, the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), has said that it will work closely with the Advertising Practitioners’ Association, Abuja Chapter (APAAC), to curb the menace.
This was disclosed on Wednesday in Abuja, during a courtesy visit of the members of APAAC to the Ag. Registrar, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Mrs Ijedi Iyoha.
Iyoha while addressing the delegation, noted that the only way to ensure professionalism in the Advertising industry is to stop quacks from engaging in the business of Advertising.
“It is no doubt that the industry has suffered loss as a result of the dominance of quacks in the industry, but we are now ready to do anything possible in collaboration with APAAC to making sure that those who are not APCON Certified are out of the Advertising industry” she said.
The Ag. Registrar thanked members of the Advertising Practitioners’ Association, Abuja Chapter (APAAC), for their support over the years and congratulated the executive team on the recent elections.
She urged members of the Association not to relent in their effort to sanitise the Advertising industry.
On his part, the chairman of the Advertising Practitioners’ Association Abuja Chapter (APAAC), Alh. Ibrahim Aliyu who led the Association on the courtesy visit, pledged total support to all the plans of APCON in order to arrest and check quacks in the industry.
“We appreciate your time drown out of your busy schedule to making this day an answered prayer to our heart and yearnings, which is to have us received by you. May you be rest assured that APAAC is solidly behind this mission of chasing out quacks.
“It is actually a challenge, and we believe that as soon as this challenge is taken care of, the industry will be an industry where professionals in practice would have a course to smile. Our clients will also do same because they would have seen their high rate of returns on investment.”
The chairman also pleaded with the registrar to have representatives of APCON in every meetings so as to bridge communication gap between the two bodies.
The registrar in her response, assured APAAC of an optimal attendance of APCON members to the APAAC meetings and emphatically said, ” Consider it done”.
The Advertising Practitioners’ Association, Abuja Chapter (APAAC), is an Umbrella body of Advertising Practitioners in the North Central Zone recognised by the Advertising Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria (APCON) to carry out advertising business.
