The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has disowned a recruitment advertisement currently trending on social media.
The advertisement which used the Corporation’s colour with its logo, invites candidates with background in Sciences, Engineering, Business/Finance, Social Sciences, Arts/Humanities as well as Medical/Health Sciences to apply, giving required educational attainments of prospects to include, a Master’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND).
A statement by the Corporation’s Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Ndu Ughamadu, on Sunday, described the advertisement as phantom and called on unsuspecting members of the public, to be wary of the scam.
Ughamadu further advised members of the public to disregard any announcement of recruitment or invitation for recruitment interview, appearing on social media, as the Corporation, is not conducting any recruitment exercise at the moment.
He reminded job seekers to beware of the antics of scammers who deploy such strategies as text messages, vacancy announcements on social media as well as forged letters, inviting job seekers for non-existing job interviews with a view to extorting money from them.
He also cautioned applicants who entertain such invitations to desist as they would only have themselves to blamed, if they fall victim and encouraged those who had already fallen victim, to volunteer information to the law enforcement agencies to take proper action.
Ughamadu stated that the Corporation gives everybody equal opportunity and would advertise any recruitment on the national dailies.
