President Muhammadu Buhari has dropped the long awaited news of his decision to seek re-election in 2019 general elections.
The President, despite hint from every angle that he might run for a second term, have remained silent over the issue until Monday when he made the dislosure at the party’s National Executive Council meeting.
Speaking at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting, the President appealed to members of NEC to grant waiver to the party’s national chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other National and State Executive members wishing to seek re-election.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and 24 state governors are present in the meeting.
A tweet from the Presidency has also confirmed the news.
It read, “President @MBuhari has just announced his intention to seek the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contest for a second term of Office in the 2019 elections”.
