Abuja-Following the prolonged trial of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki at the tribunal,the Senate Council, National Association of Kwara State Student on Thursday staged a protest in Abuja.
Speaking to News men in an interview, the President of the Senate, NAKSS, Mr Abdulazeez El-immam, stated that the case which is ‘turning to persecution’, is disturbing his (Saraki’s) work at the Senate.
According to him, “This is a body standing in for the 1.6 million Kwara student within Nigeria and diaspora, we are here to show solidarity for the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki.
“We are tired of the case in court, this is no more prosecution but persecution and it has to end. It is disturbing the peace of the country and not allowing him focus on his parliamentary duties.
“As we know, he paid the JAMB fee of 1,200 student and we want Nigerians to know that they only want to bring him down, they are not giving him the opportunity to serve. We are tired of the case” he said.
It would be recalled that Saraki has been facing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for false declaration of assets.
