Following the sustained successes of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria and in a bid to totally wipe out the already degraded Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) from the country, the Nigerian Army (NA) has put a bounty on the fugitive Boko Haram Terrorists’ leader, Abubakar Shekau.
This was made known in a statement made available to newsmen by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, which reads, “The Nigerian Army will give out Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00) cash reward for any credible information that leads to the arrest of Abubakar Shekau, the fugitive factional Boko Haram Terrorists’ group leader”.
The statement directed anybody with such credible information to either contact the Military Command and Control Centre, Operation Lafiya Dole, any military location, security agencies or call the Nigerian Army Information and Call Centre on 193.
It would be recalled that several times in the past the NA had claimed to have either seriously wounded Shekau in a fire fight or have killed him but he always released videos to debunk such claims which paints him as a cat with nine lives.
However, with the renewed vigor of the Nigerian Military operations in the North-East, nothing has been heard of the fugitive factional leader of the group in a long while which convinced the NA that he is on the run.
The Nigerian Army further enjoined the general public, particularly those in the North-East to go about their normal businesses as they (Army) are on top of the situation while also looking out for Shekau who is on the run.
