The Postmaster General of the Federation, Barrister Bisi  Adegbuyi has called on stakeholders in the postal sector to develop a robust financial service that will benefit people living in the rural communities.

He said postal financial service will bring about an increase in the banking service in the rural areas ,especially the low income earners .

Barrister Adegbuyi  made the disclosure at the African postal Forum of Postmaster Generals where he was elected as chairman of the Forum .

The  NIPOST management made the disclosure in a statement signed by Mr Franklin Alao ,the corporate communications manager .

According to him, “with the constant decline in profit from the traditional postal services, there is an urgent need to inculcate financial services into the different operations of the postal service across Africa”

Speaking further, he said the theme of the event “The postal bank, a strategy on the move” is apt at a time when the postal industry is undergoing transformation .

“We are in an era where digitalization and technological advancement is the order of the day. We want to use model of postal financial service to impact all the nooks and crannies of the country” he said.

In the same vein, he said NIPOST has undergone series of rebranding by changing the narratives and bringing different innovations into the sector .We will ensure that the organisation maintain its relevance despite the advent of information technology .

The Postmaster General further explained that the agency is aiming at becoming a major income generator for Nigeria .

“We are seeking for ways of exploring other sources of income than oil to shore up our annual income. We want all Nigerians to explore all available means of generating legitimate revenue for themselves ”

Since the inception of the African Postal Forum, the postal industry has witnessed great leap by developing the future of the African postal sector.
