In a bid to strengthen the relationship between the Nigerian Air Force(NAF)and the Royal Jordanian Air Force, the wife of the Commander of RJAF, Mrs. Feryal Sullum on Monday paid a visit to the National Secretariat of the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) in Abuja.
Mrs. Feryal Sullum who is in Nigeria with her husband Major General Yousef Al-Hnaity on a working visit, also took out time to visit the Nigerian Air Force Little Angels school at the Air Force Base.
In her opening remarks, the National President of NAFOWA, Hajia Hafsat Sadique Abubakar, said the visit serves as a pointer to the good relationship existing between the two countries.
Hajia Abubakar also noted that the visit symbolizes the cooperation between Nigeria and the Royal Jordanian Republic.
While acquainting Mrs. Sullum with the activities of NAFOWA which has its motto as ‘Service to Humanity’, she noted that the focus of the Association is in carrying out programmes and outreaches that add value to human lives.
She said; “We build capacity for our women, youth and children in the Air Force Bases and the surrounding communities. As a Non-Governmental Organization, we partner with other sister organisations like the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) to carry out various humanitarian programmes “.
She also noted that the reality of the society puts the social responsibility on NAFOWA to carry out various initiatives in Nigeria especially in the areas of female and youth empowerment.
The NAFOWA National President further expressed hopes that the visit will cement the bond of relationship between the two associations, as she looks forward to common areas of collaboration and cooperation.
In her response, the Wife of the Royal Jordanian Air Force Commander, Mrs. Feryal Sullum appreciated the NAFOWA for the warm hospitality.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Feryal Sullum also had a tour of the NAFOWA Little Angels Montessori Methodology School where she took the time to inspect the classrooms,computer laboratory, creative art studio, sick bay as well as the special needs school.
She also went round to see how the children with special needs such as hearing impediments, autism and cerebral palsy are being taught and taken care of.
Mrs Feryal Sullum and her husband Major General Yousef Al-Hnaity will spend one week in Nigeria visiting several NAF Bases.
