Abuja-Report reaching The Sight News has it that students numbering over 200 has chased away one Aruna Kadiri who is parading himself as the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)from the Unity Fountain Abuja in the early hours of Tuesday.

The self acclaimed President who had planned to stage an unauthorised protest against the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)made a run for it when the students loyal to the President of NANS, Chinonso Obasi, pounced on him.

The students who emphasized that the organizer of the protest lacked the authority to speak on their behalf, described Aruna Kadiri as a meddlesome interloper who has consistently tried to cause disaffection in the leadership of the Nigerian students.

They also had placards with inscriptions as “Haruna Show your admission letter”, “Respect the rule of law” written on them.

While insisting that the authentic President of NANS remained Comrade Chinonso Obasi, they called on Aruna Kadiri to desist from further parading himself to avert any circumstance.

Reacting, the President of NANS, Chinonso Obasi said that due process was being followed to make known the position of NANS on the ongoing ASUU strike.

According to him, “An emergency Senate meeting of NANS had been convened to hold in Ilorin, Kwara state on September 7 for the students to take a position. The communiqué of the senate meeting shall empower the President of NANS to act accordingly”.
