Abuja: As the battle for who becomes the next Governor of Anambra State toughens, the Senator Representing Anambra South Constituency, Andy Uba has been described as a desperate politician who would soon look for greener pasture elsewhere, should he fail to clinch the APC governorship ticket in the forthcoming election in the State.
Addressing newsmen after picking his nomination form at the Party’s national Secretariat, Barrister Nonso Madu chided Senator Uba for storming the APC Secretariat with senators from other States, saying those individuals cannot influence any election in Anambra State.
Barrister Madu dismissed Uba’s assertion about being the prepared aspirant, maintaining that he(Madu) is most suitable for the job of the governor of that state as he has got the interest of the people at heart.
He said “Most of these aspirants are individuals we have been electing since I was a student in 1999. And you can see the result of that; there is no improvement. So why would we continue to elect them? I know what I have done for my people even being outside government. I am so capable, intellectually otherwise, financially, I am ready.
He further stated that “For me politics is service to the people. The person (Andy Uba) that was talking to you is among those that see politics as business. They go in to invest. That’s why he was talking of finance. He is among the calibre of people that are very desperate; when they don’t get it here they go to another place. As per being on ground and being capable, kogi State and Benue state senators are not going to be in the election in Anambra State. We are waiting for him in Anambra State. There’s no problem”.
He also alleged that Uba’s pedigree poses him as one who does not like a fair contest, saying that he will find it hard to cope with the APC’s commitment to fair play.
“The person you are talking about come from a place where there has never been a fair contest. They are not people that are comfortable with fair contest but thanks be to God, the APC has given us a level playing ground and we are waiting for him.
“I am not your typical politician, I am a realist. I was watching the national television and I saw that one of the aspirants came here with a whole lot of people from kogi, Benue, and what have you? Those people do not have any influence whatsoever in Anambra State election.
“Anambrarians have to realise that doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result is pure insanity. We have invested our time, our votes in the past, electing the same candidates and our situation has not changed. There is a silent revolution going on right now more especially in Anambra State and we expect to bring the real change to the common man. I am so confident of victory because my people are with me. I am the most qualified of all the aspirants. I have the interest of my people at heart” he emphasized.
