The President of Paralympics, Ruel Ishaku has showered a lot of encomium on the Sports Ministry, as well as the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare for improving the welfare of athletes.
This is as he affirmed that the match bonuses have been increased and the athletes are very happy and in a good mood to compete.
According to the President of the para lifters who spoke at the airport in Tokyo, Japan, “The Ministry, the Minister are doing very good and great because the Minister has improved the allowances of the athletes and also the winning bonuses have been increased. Therefore, the athletes are happy and ready to compete seriously to win, so as to get the cash prizes.”
He equally expressed his confidence in the athletes, although they have fewer number of athletes compared to the last Olympics appearance.
He said, “I don’t have any doubt about my athletes because they are in high spirits now, they are prepared and they have trained in the camp and now in Tokyo to participate fully.”
“The Last Paralympics games, we came with a very good number of athletes but now we have just about nine (9) athletes but we are going to make it count. People count on medals but we count on records.
“Talking about the world records, if an athlete is training against world records, you don’t have any doubt because when you are talking about records, we are talking about gold medals,” he concluded.
