The FCT Command of the Nigeria Police said it has intensified efforts towards apprehending one Barrister Everest Chinedu (Chinedum Everestus Ugwuowo) of Edem-Ani village of Nsukka LGA Enugu state who has been declared wanted for criminal conspiracy, forgery, obtaining money under false pretense and issuance of dud cheque.
Investigations reveal that Barrister Everistus who works with Evaruth Solicitors House, 22 Road 62, A Close Gwarinpa Abuja, issued a Deed of Assignment with an NBA seal No 05110017 of ILO Anayo Cyprian for a property in Gwarinpa at the cost of 42 million naira and the sum of 29million naira was paid as an advance by the victim after showing her a cloned letter of authority to sell.
When the victim demanded for the International passport of the property owner to conduct a search, it was then discovered that the property in question was not for sale while further scrutiny revealed that all the documents Barrister Everest Chinedu handed to her were cloned.
She noted that the suspect was arrested by the Gwarinpa police but he presented a dud cheque to that tune .
According to the victim, “the matter was first reported to the Gwarinpa police station where they connived with him and released him with a shortee that does not have property to the like sum.
“He however jumped bail and I wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police and the case was moved from Gwarinpa police station to the FCT Command. However, Barrister Everistus Chinedu in order to thwart justice petitioned and the case was moved to police Xsquad where the victim was invited but on seeing the evidences of criminal conspiracy, forgery, obtaining money under false pretense and issuance of dud cheque against Barrister Everistus Chinedu the DCP XSquad sent the case back to FCT command where Barrister Chinedu was declared wanted for his refusal to make himself available for interrogation”.
Barrister Everest Chinedu again after being declared wanted was able to maneuver his way to have the case moved to the IGP monitoring where the case is currently domiciled.
The victim complained that, the police are not doing much to help recover the funds as the suspect is now at large even though he once again petitioned the IGP monitoring after being declared wanted.
Reacting to the development, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer who spoke to our reporter via telephone said, the case has been gazetted and published in several national dailies while a trail on the suspect is ongoing.
He however denied claims that the police is not doing much to arrest the culprit but warned the suspect to turn himself in for his own good and urged anyone with any information to call the police on 08061581938 or 08032003913.
As it stands now, all efforts to reach Barrister Chinedu remains abortive as none of his telephone numbers are accessible while the defrauded victim remains traumatized.
