ABAKALIKI: Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has promised to award contract on the road leading to the home compound of Senator Emmanuel Onwe, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation,as a mark of honour for his unwavering commitment,loyalty and dedication to his administration.
Umahi, stated this during the burial ceremony of Late Ezinne, Josephine Nwachukwu,the mother of the commissioner,which took place at her country home, Agubata, Ndiagu Echara in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state.
Other pronouncement made by governor Umahi during the burial ceremony which attracted many dignitaries across the country including the former governor of Abia state and senator-elect for Abia North zone, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, included the handing over of PRESCO secondary school Abakaliki to its original owner—the Presbyterian church of Nigeria, the approval of the loan by Africa Development Bank(AfDB) for the construction of Abakaliki Ring road,which hitherto had been stopped by the opposition through litigations, the return of peace to Ikwo and Abakaliki local government areas after a land dispute that claimed many lives and property.
In a tribute, Governor Umahi, who was accompanied by his Deputy, Barr. Kelechi Igwe, members of the state executive council,and other top government functionaries, extolled the outstanding qualities of Late Ezinne Josephine Nwoba Nwachukwu,which he noted was transferred to his son,Senator Emmanuel Onwe who, according to him has shown leadership qualities, commitment and loyalty to his administration.
He further described Ezinne Josephine Nwachukwu as a real child of God and a peace maker who through her philanthropic gestures, had touched many lives in the society.
He urged the family to emulate the legacies of their mother, promising that his government would continue to support to the family.
Earlier, in his tribute,Senator Emmanuel Onwe, described his Late mother, Ezinne Elder(Mrs) Josephine Nwachukwu as a philanthropist and the ”Jewel of his life”,having toiled day and night to bring up her children.
His word,”Each drop of water that I drank,drink still and will ever drink,she extracted barehanded, from the ancient rocks of the African bush. With what words will I praise her? In what manner shall I salute her?”
The officiating minister and prelate, Presbyterian church of Nigeria,Nze Nsi Eke in his homely,urged Christians to always have faith in God to guarantee eternal life.
He described, Ezinne Elder Josephine Nwachukwu as a devote Christian and extra mother who relied on prayers and hard work as she toiled to train her children.
