In continuation of the 2019 celebration of the World Standards Day globally, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has scheduled a Symposium for Thursday, October 31, 2019 in Abuja.
A statement from the office of the Director General, Osita Aboloma, disclosed that a paper on the theme of the 2019 worldwide celebrations “Video Standards Create a Global Stage” will be presented by SON at the occasion with discussants drawn from public and private sector operators.
The discussants will include representatives of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), High Definition Film Academy, Nigerian Film Corporation, Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Globacom Limited and the National Film and Video Censors Board.
Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo is to give a keynote address on the theme while the Minister of State, Ambassador Maryam Katagun is to Chairman the discussion session, according to the statement.
Aboloma enjoined invited guests to the symposium to join SON in deliberating on the advancement of Video standards and technology in Nigeria to gain optimum benefits from global trends.
According to him, the symposium is one of SON’s strategies of ensuring the active involvement and participation of stakeholders in issues of standardization in Nigeria.
