The management of the Nigerian Postal Service(NIPOST) has revealed its new vision and a roadmap to guide the reform in four strategic pillars as it also gets a new General Manager, Corporate Communications.
The Four pillars which were contained in a document titled ‘NIPOST VISION 2020: Embracing the Future Today’, includes: Reform/Change management, Quality of Service/ Customer- Care Improvement, Innovation/ Modernization of the postal infrastructure and use of appropriate technology and Diversification.
The unbundling of the organisation into seven operational zones, six commercial business units and appointment of Zonal Managers was geared towards repositioning of the organisation and attainment of competitiveness in service delivery, adjusting the organisation’s direction in response to global best
Meanwhile, Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi has approved the reconstitution of NIPOST Top Management. In a memo signed by the CEO, the Eleven-man management team would consist of: Postmaster General, Chief Operations Officer Yahaya Rufa’i, Directors, Finance and Investment Usman Shaaba, Aliyu Mahmood, Human Resources Management(Secretary), Abdulkarim Baba, Director, Strategy And Business Development,
Others include General Managers, Bala Wambai, (Mails), Mrs. Tayo Taiye Ajayi, (Counters Services), Mukhtar Baba, (Financial Services) Onisoya Backshaw, (e-commerce and Logistics), George Ngidi, (Properties & Workshop), Asuquo Abianga (EMS), with Bernard Ekawon, Legal Adviser/ Secretary.
Similarly, the management has approved the appointment of General Managers, Franklin Alao, Corporate Communications, Yakubu Bulus (Special Duties); Irmiya Kulawe, (Marketing)
and Joseph Uwabor, (Project Execution). Other categories of appointments recently made includes the Venture Managers, Deputy Zonal Managers and District Managers.
The Venture Managers include; Gabriel Edogbo (BulkPost); Ishaya Diwa (Courier Regulatory Department); Degbebudu Tari
(IMPC); Emmanuel Toro (Workshop Services); Olufunmilayo Ogunlana (Philately Services); Tinuoye Samson (NMDC-SHOMOLU) and Nwakama Loreto, (NMDC- WUSE).
Out of the 108 districts offices across the nation, 40 District managers have so far been appointed.
In the said document, NIPOST management intoned that the starting point is in adopting the right mix of organisational structure and innovative management style in accordance with private sector best practices.
Other features are; innovation/ modernization of the postal
infrastructure and use of appropriate technology focusing on mail, counters, EMS/Parcel. Other areas of diversification
include, Financial Digital Services, Development of e-commerce/ Logistics where the postal sector intends to focus on mail, counters, EMS/Parcel.
