ABUJA-In a bid to remain physically fit to carry out the task of securing the nation, the Nigerian Air Force(NAF), has held its 2018 third quarter 10 kilometre route march in Abuja.
The march which held simultaneously across all units in the Air Force, had the personnel of the NAF marching from the Mogadishu Cantonment and turning at the Niger barracks.
Speaking after the march, the Chief of Air Staff(CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the large turnout of personnel to the march, is an indication of the availability of the huge number of men to serve the nation and fight for the people.
The CAS who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed, noted, that the participation of the personnel in the march, showed that they are fit, willing, able and ready to serve the nation.
According to him, “The fact that you are here and you have taken part in this exercise and proved beyond reasonable doubt that you are physically fit, willing, able and ready to serve this nation, means a lot to us.
“This is an indication that these huge number of personnel are available to serve this nation. These are men and women that fight for people that cannot fight for themselves” he remarked.
He further noted that the route march is a quarterly excercise that takes place simultaneously across the Nigerian Air Force in all units.
In his words, “Remember, if you took part in this exercise, number one you have convinced yourself that you are fit, number two, you have given us reasons to believe that we can trust that the men and women we have, are physically fit, and, you are reassuring this country that they have very physically fit men and women in the Nigerian Air Force. This is important to us, it is very very important to this country”.
Furthermore, he enjoined the personnel to continue to train for the next quarter exercise.
