The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development, (Centre LSD), with support from Cordaid, under the Project “Achieving a healthy and sustainable environment in the Niger Delta”, will on Thursday, January 30th, 2020 hold a one-day Town Hall Meeting on the Ogoni Clean-up, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A statement signed by Mr. Amodu Lawal, Senior Programme Officer of the Centre, stated that the objective of the town hall meeting is to critique stakeholders engagements on the clean-up of Ogoni land with a view to unearthing the challenges and charting the way forward in the light of the current realities of the clean-up.
The Town Hall Meeting which promises to be robust and engaging, will be a platform where stakeholders will reflect on their efforts towards the realization of the clean-up of Ogoni land and the Niger Delta.
The meeting will have various stakeholders and citizens groups including Traditional rulers, CSOs, women groups, youths, government agencies- HYPREP, NOSDRA, and the media in attendance.
The statement urged participants to be open and frank in their contributions so that collectively, they can come up with robust strategies that could catalyse the processes leading to the eventual clean-up of the Niger Delta.
