Abuja-With the senseless killings and spread of violence in some parts of Jos the capital of Plateau state that has left many dead, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF)recently sent out personnel and air assets to support Operation SAFE HAVEN in maintaining peace in the state.
The move which is in compliance with the directive of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure that an end is put to the current spate of violence and killings in the state, has been praised by Nigerians.
Majority of Nigerians commended the NAF for its efforts in ensuring the prevention of reprisal attacks, which could escalate the conflict.
While some are calling for justice to bring the perpetrators to book for their acts, others are of the opinion that Security of lives and properties is a collective effort of all, as they urged other citizens of the country to support the NAF in its peace maintenance efforts.
The Sight News gathered some reactions from Facebook users over the recent deployment of personnel and assets by NAF to Jos.
Stephen Matawal said; “It Is a good one, but my people, don’t sleep thinking NAF are on operation, let join hand together because security is everybody’s business”. Andrew Adejo Audu said, “nice one. Make sure you also capture the killer herdsmen alive to know where they came from and why they kill people”.
Another Facebook user, Adebogun Adewale Sunday said, “God bless the CAS. God bless the NAF”. Towing the same line, Akinkpelu Saheed Akinkunmi said, “God will support them”
In the same vein, Shaibu shehu said, “Is a welcome development NAF keep the flag flying Airforce experience(sic)”
With Nigerians solidly behind the NAF through their words and prayers, it is obvious that the Nigerian Air Force is doing what it ought to do at this point in time, to maintain peace and unity in the country.
You would recall that the deployed NAF assets include the L-39ZA aircraft and the EC-135 helicopter, which are to provide necessary air cover to the surface forces participating in the Operation in the State.
