The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN has disclosed plans to close the Akanu Ibiam International Airport runway in Enugu, due to construction works.
In a statement on its Twitter handle @FAAN_Official, the Authority notified airlines, passengers and all other stakeholders that effective 00:00 on 24th August, 2019, the runway at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu will be closed for major repairs and works on the airfield.
This move they said, is aimed at resolving the existing Safety/Security concerns to flight operations.
No reopening date was indicated, as the Authority revealed that a date to reopen the runway will be communicated in due course.
FAAN further reiterated its commitment to its core values of Safety, Security and Comfort.
