Just In: ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities,  ASUU on Monday declared indefinite strike, as its two weeks warning strike ends today.

This is following what it described as Government’s failure to address the outstanding issues raised in the Federal Government—ASUU 2019 Memorandum of Agreement, (MoA), and ignoring the objections of the Union against the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS.

According to the Union’s President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, the centralised nature of the  IPPIS does not only violate the Autonomy Law, but will cripple the academic system in the country.

“The National Executive Council of ASUU resolved to embark on a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike Action beginning Monday, 23rd March, 2020 until the issues are satisfactorily resolved”.
