Following the Federal Government’s declaration of Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st July 2021 as public holidays, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday adjusted the commencement date for physical registration of voters and scheduled appointments by online registrants.

Making this known in a statement issued at the end of the Commission’s meeting on July 15, 2021, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Barrister Festus Okoye, noted that the physical registration of voters will now commence on Monday, July 26, 2021.

The statement explained that online registrants that have scheduled appointments from 19th to 23rd July 2021 will have their appointments rescheduled.

According to Okoye, “It is important to emphasise that the Continuous Voter Registration will take place over a period of one year. The Commission assures all Nigerians that no citizen eligible to register as a voter will be left behind.”

“The Commission assures all Nigerians that no citizen eligible to register as a voter will be left behind”, he said.
