Hamzat, Malala, Others Named Among Young People Changing the World

Chief Executive of Africa’s leading Social Accountability Civil Society Organisation, Connected Development [CODE] and Founder, Follow The Money, Hamzat Lawal, has been named as one of the top six (6) Young Persons changing the world, alongside Malala Yousafzai, Greta Thunberg and Eddie Ndopu, by an award-winning Spain-based Non-Governmental Organisation, The Global School.

The Global School which specializes in disruptive and holistic education for the new generation of global social leaders, revealed that it published the list, after careful research on the impact of the works of these individuals, as a recognition of the valuable contributions Young people are making in the world.

“Service is arguably the most important and rewarding act of humanity. It’s an honour to be listed among young people influencing the world positively and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, Hamzat Lawal said, when asked how he felt about the recognition.

Hamzat Lawal is an anti-corruption activist and the founder of Follow The Money, a Pan-African grassroots data-driven movement and leads a team of technology & innovation driven campaigners to amplify the voices of marginalized grassroots communities in promoting accountability as regards the utilization of public funds focusing on specific communities across Africa.

His Follow The Money initiative emerged winner of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Mobilizer 2019 Award. This announcement was made at the SDG Global Festival of Action which held in Bonn, Germany.

An initiative of Connected Development, that is mobilizing thousands of Young people across Africa on demanding better public service delivery and holding their elected government accountable.

He specializes in practical issues associated with Climate Change, Open Data, advocacy campaigns and development policies and continues to inspire young people to contribute towards civic engagement and good governance.
