Abuja-In a bid to equip the Fire service with necessary fire fighting tools to curtail the number of deaths arising from fire outbreaks, a non governmental organization, “Big Church Foundation” has on Tuesday donated an ambulance to the Federal Fire Service to aid rescuing of victims.
Fire outbreaks claims several lives on a daily basis as a result of lack of fire prevention awareness, escape mechanism and lack of adequate tools by the Fire service to respond rapidly whenever contacted.
Speaking to Newsmen, the Founder “Big Church Foundation” Oladunni Churchill noted that the decision to save lives prompted the donation of an ambulance to the federal fire service.
On why he came alongside several celebrities, Churchill noted that their presence will help to communicate and create awareness faster on the menace of fire incidents
He said; “The major thing is to put smiles on peoples face and this event will afford people that the opportunity to know how to contact the fire service. After looking into fire service, the foundation made the decision to help save lives and won’t stop here”.
In his remark, the Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Engr. Anebi Joseph expressed delight over the donation which he said is unique and very thoughtful.
Joseph stated that the service is working seriously within the city to minimize fire outbreaks, adding that heads of Ministries and parastatals have been asked to submit their building plans to fire service for vetting before they commence building to ensure that fire preventive measures are put in place early enough.
He announced that the service is succeeding as it has ordered 15 water tankers, refurbished about 25 vehicles, fire fighting engines and have procured 23 new ones and 5 out of the 23 is already awaiting clearance in Lagos.
The CG also hinted that an App is being developed to aid detection of fire wherever it arises and called on the general public to support the APP by downloading it.
Also, comedian Ayodeji Makun popularly known as A.Y, stated that fire incidents come up any time, adding that the support to the Federal Fire Service by the foundation is worthy of emulation.
he further said that his presence at the event afforded him the opportunity to learn the importance of safety, adding that fire fighters are the heroes that are yet to be celebrated to the fullest as they are always there to save lives.
The Big Church Foundation which stormed Abuja with several popular celebrities like Comedian A.Y, Waje, Praise, Mike Ezuruonye, TBoss of Big Brother Nigeria and a host of others also visited the Trauma ward of the National Hospital to see victims of fire outbreak.
Besides the Ambulance, the Big Church foundation also donated fire kits to the Federal Fire Service Abuja.
