The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has said that the Tuesday, October 19, 2021 public holiday in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SWT) will provide another golden opportunity for Muslims to have deeper reflection on the unique attributes of Prophet Muhammad (SWT) for emulation.

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Hon. Solomon Onah who is also the ALGON Chairman Enugu State Chapter, the Association noted that

such opportunity also calls for all Nigerians especially the Muslim faithfuls to pray for the Country’s Unity, peace and security.

It stated that this year’s celebration of Eid-el-Maulud should be used  to pray for its continued existence, especially the need for all leaders to lead responsibly with fear of God and in the overall interest of the Country.

“It is the desire of Allah and in line with HIS virtues that people should live in peace with the spirit of love, patience and perseverance, it is therefore necessary that His wish is respected and  that such will bring an enduring progress in families, communities and the Country in general”.

Hon. Onah further noted that ALGON under the present Leadership of Hon. Alabi, Kolade David has continued to promote peace and unity through its policy of strengthening national cohesion with it’s Zonal Meetings which has enabled the NEC members, other Chairmen and Local Governments/Councils stakeholders to have a feel of togetherness and appreciate our  diversities.
