It is gratifying to note, that the Ministry of Information and state Orientation,Abakaliki Ebonyi state, has become a center of attraction, since the inception of Barr. Uchenna Orji as Commissioner for Information and State Orientation.

One thing that has become part of Uchenna Orji, which has shaped his life, is that he hates dull moments,as he continues to assail on his duty.

He has proved to be a guru all round, having showcased his talent and managerial ability in the field of any assignment. Though, a professional lawyer which one hardly believes because of his humility,he has shown total commitment and loyalty in serving the present administration.

As one of the pioneer commissioners of governor Umahi-led administration, Barr.Orji started his first assignment with Ministry of Agriculture, where he actually led the ministry to soar in fame.

Just like what he is currently doing in the Ministry of Information and State Orientation by trying to reposition the ministry, he had organised an agric summit where farmers and intending farmers in the state, gathered to listen to agricultural talks,”the way forward to increase agricultural produce”.

The outcome of this agric summit in no doubt, translated into action as farmers in Ebonyi state woke up from their slumbers to aggressively pursue massive food production, which governor Umahi has always hammered on.

As the commissioner in charge of Empowerment and Job creation, now renamed Ministry of Human Capital Development, Barr.Orji Uchenna demonstrated a high level of competence and managerial ability to execute the almighty policy of governor Umahi’s empowerment scheme.

It is on record that he made his mark as commissioner in that field as prudent management and accountability became the order of the day.

The youths, women, widows, Officers’ wives, clergy and even journalists who benefited from this laudable empowerment scheme under Barr. Uchenna Orji as commissioner, are today telling the good story.

I may not go into details of this empowerment scheme as I cannot exhaustively quote the billions of naira state government had invested on the laudable project, which saw thousands of people empowered, but, suffice it to say that, Barr. Uchenna Orji is a man of great integrity and prudence.

That is why, the Ministry of Information and state Orientation should count itself lucky to have this great man of creativity and innovation, as he has given the green light to move the ministry forward.

His much emphasis on e-governance in projecting the good work of governor David Umahi to the outside world, is another right step towards resharpening the professional skills of the state Information officers, charged with the responsibility of disseminating information on government policies and programmes.

As one can testify, the “City of David Platform”,created by Barr.Uchenna Orji,on assumption of duty, has become a rallying point by people of goodwill who keep date with the platform to access the developmental strides of governor David Umahi, through the reports of Information officers.

Just few days ago, Barr. Uchenna Orji,at a short notice organised a “Capacity Evaluation Consortium, aimed at updating the knowledge of Information officers and public relation officers on their day to day duty in consonance with the e- governance of Umahi-led administration,to achieve the desired result.

The seminar which was a toast for all Information officers and public relation officers in the state, had key resource persons, like, a one time commissioner for Information and state Orientation,Associate Professor John Otu, from Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo.
