The South East security outfit (Ebubeagu) Ebonyi state, has paraded 15 suspected criminals allegedly terrorizing the state.
Parading the suspects before handing them over to police at command headquarters, Abakaliki, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Eze Ikechukwu Patrick, told newsmen that four locally made guns were recovered from some of the suspects.
He explained that the suspects who had been terrorising the state were picked from different locations during tip-off, stop and search operations.
In his words, “The boys are the major suspects that are terrorizing the state and we apprehended them yesterday night, with four locally made pistols recovered from some of them.
“You can see, we handed them over to the police for further investigation. They are 15 in number but we still have others left, and when arrested, we will equally hand them over to police”, he said.
The SA while commending the efforts of Ebubeagu to rid the state of criminal elements, disclosed that the suspects were arrested in different locations in the state.
“We arrested some of them at Gariki burial ground, while other ones were arrested at the Centenary city. None of them is a student. Most of them are cultists.
“We arrested some of them during our stop and search operations. There is peace already in Ebonyi since their arrest.
“They are the major Taliban’s that are disturbing the people of the state and we have peacefully handed them over to the police” he stated.
When contacted for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebonyi State Command, DSP Loveth Odah, said she was not aware of the development.
“I am not aware that Ebubeagu handed over suspects. They may have been arrested and handed over to the police but I’m not aware as the spokesperson of the police command”, he added.
