Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, has described the conduct of the All Progressive Congress (APC) ward congress in Ebonyi State as most peaceful.

Umahi, who went round part of the state, like Ohaozara local government area and Edda in Afikpo south local government to monitor the congress, described the consensus arrangement demonstrated at the field in a way of massive mobilization, as excellent.

Governor Umahi spoke to Journalists at Edda, Afikpo South local government area during an inspection visit to Iyere Flyover bridge which is under construction.

In his words, “The consensus arrangement being demonstrated at the field by way of massive mobilization and election are very excellent”.

Answering questions on the caretaker arrangement of the Party, governor David Umahi said it was appropriately done in line with the Nigerian constitution and Party’s constitution.

According to him, “When that opinion was expressed that it was illegal, I had to go through the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Constitution of the party. A section of the party constitution empowers the National Executive Committee to set up a caretaker Committee and this caretaker Committee is to do the job of any of the organs of the party where there is vacancy or vacancies”.

On the Iyere Edda Flyover construction which has reached an advanced stage, governor David Umahi assured that the Flyover, although the longest in the state with 30 spans, will be commissioned by December, 2021.

“We will commission this project by December. It is one of the fastest projects in the history of the state. Admittedly, it is quite challenging but with determination, we decided to do this.

“An average of 30 people die on this road every year, so, we are doing this to reduce a slope of 45% to a slope of 7% through a flyover and I hope to save lives and that’s what we are set to do in Ebonyi State,” he concluded.
