Aviation Unit of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Abuja received more than 40 new intakes in the different categories of membership grades at the Pilot Lounge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
In his induction Speech the Assistant Director, Administration of CILT, Mr. Shodeinde before he presented them with certificates, read out a brief history, objective, the different categories and benefits of the international professional body which he said is based in the United Kingdom and is directly supervised by the Queen of England.
He told the inductees and members present that the CILT is already playing a key role in the establishment of the National Transport Policy and that though the domestication process of the Institute is in its final stage of in the National Assembly, Nigeria has been upgraded to the Status of a territory by the International body. He advised members to be professional in carrying out their duties and also be involved in all activities concerning the Institute including bringing their writing articles for publication in the CILT magazine.
The Public Relation Officer of CILT Abuja Chapter, Mr. Alex Okosun, speaking to newsmen, expressed delight that it was a dream come true as his colleagues in the office will be rated professionally in the transport industry. He said, “we can now talk and reason alike to facilitate and accomplish the tasks given to us in the office quickly”.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is the leading International Professional body for all sectors of the Transport and Logistics Industry. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1919 and granted a Royal Charter on the 26th of November, 1926, the CILT was actually established to promote knowledge of the science and art of Logistics and Transport and to provide a source of authoritative views for communication to government, industry and the community at large.
Nigeria currently holds a territorial status and will host the African forum in Abuja, Nigeria between 14th and 16th March 2018.
