President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr. Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, a veteran broadcaster, as the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the appointment in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
According to the statement signed by Segun Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the President (Media), Office of the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Ilelah’s appointment is for a tenure of five years in the first instance.
Mr Ilelah is to replace the Acting Director-General, Armstrong Idachaba who few days ago, ordered all Broadcast Stations to de-install their Twitter accounts following the suspension of the microblogging site by the Buhari government.
Idachaba was the Director, Broadcast Policy and Research at the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) before he assumed office as the acting Director-General of the agency.
