The Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, has termed as false, reports making the rounds that the President had cancelled appointments made by his former Chief of Staff, late Abba Kyari.
Shehu, who took to his Twitter handle @GarShehu to make this announcement, said that the reports which have quoted unnamed sources, are untrue.
According to his tweet, “The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to media reports alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled a number of memos and appointments signed off by his former Chief of Staff. Not surprisingly, these reports have quoted unnamed sources.
“There is not a grain of truth in these reports and Nigerians should please ignore the insinuations behind them.
“President Buhari was duly re-elected by Nigerians in February 2019. He has not and will never cede to anyone else, that power and trust given to him by the Nigerian people”, he ended.
Recall that several media outlets had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari may have directed his new Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari to cancel all appointments and approvals made by the late Chief of staff Abba Kyari without his permission.
Also, reports had it that no less than 150 memos without the President’s authorization may have been uncovered.
Abba Kyari died of the Coronavirus in a Lagos hospital after testing positive and was later replaced by Prof. Gambari.
