Birth Anniversary of Sheikh Kamal Celebrated in Nigeria

The 71st birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was celebrated Wednesday (5 August, 2020) at the Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria in a befitting manner.

The Programme included recitation from the Holy Quran, screening of documentary on the life of Sheikh Kamal, discussion meeting, cutting of birthday cake and special prayer.

Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria in his remarks highlighted the life of Sheikh Kamal. He said that Shaheed Kamal was not only a valiant freedom fighter but also the architect of modern sports in Bangladesh and a cultural personality. 

While highlighting Bangladesh’s impressive success in the field of sports and culture at home and abroad, the High Commissioner added that Sheikh Kamal’s passion and contribution will continue to inspire the younger generation in future. 

Mr. Ahsan also touched on Mission’s year-long Programme to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation in this regard. Moderated by Mr. Mohammad Shah Ekramul Hoque, Third Secretary, other discussants included Mr. Mohammad Shah Ekramul Hoque & Mr. Md. Akbar Hossain, a community leader.

The auditorium of the High Commission assumed a festive look which was beautifully decorated with Sheikh Kamal’s portraits and balloons. Officials of the Mission, Nigerian guests, and members of the community were present.
