The Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria made its debut at the 2019 Abuja International Trade Fair, where it exhibited a good number of exportables while some cultural items were also on display to the public.

The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, H.E Md. Shameem Ahsan, ndc, who spoke to The Sight News over the weekend, at the Commission’s stand, on the sidelines of an interactive session with the public, expressed delight to be at the fair.

According to him,  “This is the first time Bangladesh High Commission is participating at the Abuja International Trade Fair and we are happy to be part of it.

“There are a good number of exhibits at the pavilion and we tried to decorate it in a way which gives a message about the commercial and cultural heritage of the country”.

He further said that posters, banners and some publications were exhibited but beyond the exhibits, the Commission has tried to awaken the Nigerian and foreign audience about the investment facilities in Bangladesh.

While stating that the Commission is planning to attend trade fair in other states such as Kano, Bauchi, Kogi, Plateau and Lagos, he expressed delight that the pavilion has attracted lots of interested potential business partners.

On his opinion about the organisation of the fair, he stated that the location is good but lack of constant electricity was a challenge.

“I thank the Abuja Chamber of Commerce for inviting us, the fair has generated lots of interest but I think there is still room for improvement.

“I know the organizers have been trying sincerely to make our presence convenient but one difficulty we face is power supply.

“Due to short electricity supply, we cannot run the video documentary all the time. The organizers should look into this. Otherwise, the place is lovely and next year we hope to attend,” he ended.

dignitaries such as; the Minister for State, FCT Abuja, Hajiya Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu; Minister for State Industry, Trade and  Investment and Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, visited the Bangladeshi High Commission stands.
