LG Autonomy:APC Chieftain Buba Galadima Charges Youths To Exert Democratic Pressure

Abuja-The All Progressive Congress(APC) Chieftain, Engr. Buba Galadima has called on the National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN) to hold a peaceful protest as well as exert democratic pressure on the government in order to achieve local government autonomy.

Galadima who was the the Father of the Day at the Nigerian youth Democracy Lecture and Day of Honour, organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN) in Abuja, disclosed that the current security challenges bedevilling the country is largely due to the concentration of the economic resources of the state in the state capitals without proper distribution to the local government.

He noted that the solution to the security challenges is local government autonomy that allows for monies to be disbursed directly to the local government areas.

According to him; “The local government chairmen have no authority to initiate economic or social activities in the state leading to young men posing security challenges. The leaders are there by the mandate of the people, they are the servants not masters and are supposed to do the wish of the people.The National Youth council must device a means to get the autonomy for small communities to have resources to manage their place”.

Also, the Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council(AMAC) Abdullahi Candido said that the destiny of the country rests in the hands of the youths, adding that the country belongs to the youths who are still agile and young.

Candido stated that if nothing is done now, there might not be a Nigeria in the next 10 years to come.

He said, “Simply because of the attitude of what we call ourselves as citizens of this country.abusing trusts, mandate given abuse, responsibility given, not carried out, resources stolen sometimes in a cowardice manner. You steal Money that cannot even be used by you or your grand children and yet you call yourself a country man”.

He called for support for the President, adding that sentiments, tribal, regional and religious should be removed in order to have a country called Nigeria.

Candido urged those in the echelon of government to support the youths whom he said are leaders of today and so need to be encouraged, adding that things should be done with the fear of God.
