Abuja- The Federal Government has on Tuesday presented certificates of citizenship to 335 people.

The Minister of interior , Abdulrahman Dambazau, who carried out the conferment in Abuja, advised new citizens to be law abiding and patriotic while projecting a positive image of Nigeria to the world.

At the formal conferment, 335 beneficiaries were presented with certificates of Nigerian citizenship, 245 of which are for certificate of naturalization , and the other 99 were given certificate of registration and this goes to record as the highest number of conferment of citizenship given at once in the country.

Dambazau stated that the objectives of the present administration to ensure a good standing for Nigeria, alongside it’s foreign counterparts, both economically and politically has been a motivation for the large number of conferment.

According to him,“This government is determined to encourage and attract foreign investment into the country, and this would in turn create a more business friendly environment”.

The Minister further affirmed that henceforth, speedy attention would be given to credible citizenship applicants.

Meanwhile, the conferment which is in line with the provisions of chapter III, sections 26 and 27, of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, ensures an ease of doing business in the country.

A large percentage of the beneficiaries are international entrepreneurs and industrialists, who have been established in the country for over a period of 10years or are married to Nigerian citizens.

Also, all intended citizens were vetted and had one way or the other contributed to the growth of the country’s economy.
