The world- class Cultural Exhibition mounted by the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) in Moscow, Russia has gained much recognition by numerous audience from different parts of the world who came to watch the world cup.
The Nigerian Cultural Exhibition Stand, which was heavily embellished with the nation’s arts, crafts and historical materials, continued to witness impressive influx of Nigerians in Russia, friends of Nigeria and a wide range of other spectators.
The Cultural Centre, which was the central point for rallying support for the Super Eagles in Moscow also provided a platform for showcasing Nigeria’s cultural strength in Russia.
Though the Super Eagles lost 2- 1 to Argentina, NCAC Cultural Exhibition in Moscow provided a comic relieve to hundreds of Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike who thronged to the Stand to drum support for the Super Eagles, while also appreciating the rich cultural products of Nigeria on display at the Stand.
In the early days of the tournament, the DG of NCAC, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, was overwhelmed by the large turn-out of Nigerians and foreigners to the Stand and thanked the mammoth crowd who sang, danced, drummed and waved the Nigeria Flag for their support and solidarity.
He pointed out that the passions and emotions displayed at the Stand was a clear testimony of the power of culture and football to foster global unity, peace and sustainable partnership.
The high point of the exhibition was the decoration of foreign fans of the Super Eagles with Green-White-Green Nigerian mufflers and Nigerian hand flags.
It would be recalled that early this year, NCAC under Runsewe, launched a Three Million Culture Friendly Supporters for the Super Eagles during which he vowed to storm Russia to project Nigerian culture and mobilize support for the Super Eagles in their World Cup Campaign.
Nigeria lost the match early but the epoch-making World Cup Cultural Exhibition by the National Council of Arts and Culture NCAC), is a legacy to behold.
