The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has expressed concern over the crash of a Nigeria Air Force aircraft, NGR931, at Igbokoda in Ondo State, with approximately 32 people reportedly on board.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Capt. Chris Najomo, the NCAA said it was saddened by the incident and extended its thoughts and prayers to the personnel of the Nigeria Air Force, occupants of the aircraft, their families and others affected by the incident.
The Authority clarified that military aviation operations fall outside its regulatory and operational mandate.
However, it said it remained committed to supporting the national response to the incident and was ready to provide technical expertise and assistance required for the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
“The NCAA is closely monitoring developments and will continue to cooperate with the relevant authorities and agencies in accordance with established national emergency response protocols,” the statement said.
The Authority expressed solidarity with the Nigeria Air Force and all those affected, while hoping for a positive outcome and the safe and successful rescue of those involved.
