The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Katsina Sub-Region, and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have conducted a joint inspection of the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation Project ahead of the next major installation phase.
The inspection, held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, was led by the Assistant General Manager (Transmission), Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman Idris, who received the Imcomtel delegation headed by Engr. Emmanuel Okafor.
The team inspected various sections of the substation, including ongoing civil works, equipment locations and supporting infrastructure, to assess their readiness for the next phase of the project.
A key focus of the inspection was the assessment of two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the site on July 9, 2026, alongside their designated plinths.
The transformers are expected to increase transmission capacity in Katsina State and the wider North-West region when installed and commissioned.
The team also inspected four newly delivered control rooms to assess their readiness to accommodate critical protection, monitoring and control systems.
At the end of the inspection, TCN and Imcomtel agreed on the final technical requirements and site preparations needed to facilitate smooth coordination as the project progresses towards completion.
The inspection team also included TCN’s Principal Manager, Engr. Mustapha Idowu, and heads of relevant technical departments.
