The Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, was turbaned Maji Dadin Gidan Mangoro on Thursday during the commissioning of the newly built palace of the Mai-Anguwan Gidan Mangoro in Minna, Niger State.

The event attended by traditional rulers, government officials, NECO stakeholders and community leaders, honoured Wushishi’s contributions to the host community’s development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Wushishi said the palace was built under NECO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, describing it as evidence that the Council’s mandate extends beyond examinations and certification to grassroots development.

He said stable, peaceful host communities were essential to NECO’s operations, noting that Gidan Mangoro — home to the Council’s headquarters — had shown consistent hospitality and cooperation over the years.

He listed other CSR interventions in the state, including motorised boreholes in Gidan Mangoro and Gbaganako, transformers supplied to Wushishi and Gidan Mangoro communities in 2023, a skills development programme run with the Industrial Training Fund, support for internally displaced persons in Shiroro, and donations of learning materials to two Minna primary schools.

The Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago, represented by Sarki Samari Salihu Garba, commended NECO’s gesture and urged other institutions in the emirate to follow suit.

Also, the Mai-Anguwan Gidan Mangoro, Mallam Sani Zagi, thanked NECO and guests, calling the palace a landmark achievement for the wider Bosso Local Government Area.

The ceremony closed with cultural performances and award presentations, capped by Wushishi’s turbaning as the event’s high point.
