The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 500 litres of products suspected to be illegally sourced Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa in Folu Community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
The operation was carried out on August 24, 2026, by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) LEKKI as part of efforts to combat the illegal trade and storage of petroleum products and the proliferation of illicit drugs within its area of operations.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the suspects fled the scene before they could be apprehended.
The recovered exhibits were subsequently secured and conveyed to the base for further investigation and appropriate action in line with established procedures.
The Navy said the operation underscored its commitment to disrupting activities that threaten Nigeria’s economic interests, public safety and security within its area of operations.
