The Super Falcons of Nigeria have received the full package of presidential rewards approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), ahead of their title defence at the 2026 tournament in Morocco.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) presented the rewards to the players and officials at the team’s camp in Rabat on Monday, July 28, with NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, leading the delegation.
The presentation was held as the nine-time African champions prepared to begin their campaign in the 2026 WAFCON, with the NSC reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to rewarding sporting excellence.
Under the presidential reward package, each of the 24 players and 12 officials received title documents, including Certificates of Occupancy, for their fully paid three-bedroom homes in Abuja allocated by the Federal Government.
The team also received certificates confirming the conferment of the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), duly signed by President Tinubu, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
The NSC further disclosed that the cash component of the presidential rewards is being processed for payment.
Each player is entitled to the naira equivalent of $100,000, while each coach and technical official will receive the naira equivalent of $50,000.
According to the Commission, the payments have been approved and are currently being processed by the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation for direct payment into the beneficiaries’ accounts through the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The NSC also announced that all allowances and bonuses covering the entire 2026 WAFCON tournament through to the final have been released and made available to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for immediate payment to the players as they progress in the competition.
Dikko, while addressing the team, also unveiled a special performance-based motivation package for the Super Falcons as part of preparations for the championship.
The initiative, according to the NSC, is in line with its Athlete First policy under the Renewed Hope Initiative for National Sports Excellence (RHINSE) and is designed to further motivate the players to excel at the continental championship.
The Super Falcons will now turn their attention to their opening fixture as they begin their quest to retain the WAFCON title and further strengthen Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football on the continent.
