The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned the recent attack by the Houthi militia on civilian targets in the Najran Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, describing it as a grave violation of international humanitarian law and an unacceptable assault on innocent civilians.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government expressed deep concern over the attack, which reportedly injured several civilians, including women and children.
Nigeria said the attack constituted a flagrant breach of the principles of civilian protection during armed conflict, stressing that deliberate attacks on civilian populations and infrastructure must be unequivocally condemned by the international community.
Reaffirming its opposition to the escalation of violence in the region, the Federal Government called on all parties involved in the conflict to exercise maximum restraint, respect international law, and prioritize the safety and protection of civilians.
The government also urged renewed and intensified diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful and sustainable resolution of the conflict, while upholding the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of all states in the region.
According to the Ministry, Nigeria will continue to monitor developments closely and collaborate with regional and international partners in support of lasting peace, security, and stability in the Gulf and the wider Middle East.
