The Federal Government has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and reported attacks involving the Houthi militia in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and embrace peaceful dialogue.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government urged all sides to immediately de-escalate the situation and refrain from actions capable of worsening hostilities or threatening civilian lives, regional peace and stability.
Nigeria stressed the need for the parties to prioritize diplomacy and peaceful resolution of disputes in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
According to the statement, any further escalation of the conflict could undermine regional security and stability, with potentially far-reaching consequences.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes and expressed its readiness to support genuine and constructive efforts aimed at reducing tensions, restoring calm, and promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
